Technical Education & Content Manager
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Reports To: IDEA President
Position Summary
The Technical Education & Content Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, accuracy, and delivery of educational materials and technical content related to the overhead door industry. This individual will coordinate and lead IDEA’s two-day technical schools, ensure the integrity of technical content across platforms, and manage content development and updates. This is a leadership role that combines technical expertise, instructional development, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, Teach, and Organize IDEA’s two-day training schools, including scheduling instructors, managing logistics, and delivering instruction.
- Approve Technical Content for public release, including information shared on IDEA’s social media and digital platforms.
- Attend IDEA Board Meetings (four per year) and provide updates, recommendations, and progress reports on educational programs and technical content initiatives.
- Maintain and Update existing study guides and certification materials on a rotating three-year cycle.
- Develop New Educational Content, including study guides, instructional manuals, presentations, and other training materials.
- Serve as IDEA Librarian, maintaining a catalog of all technical and educational resources.
- Lead and Manage Projects, working collaboratively with subject matter experts, contractors, and volunteer committees.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally with IDEA staff, industry professionals, and partners to ensure the highest quality of technical education.
- Ensure Accuracy and Consistency in all technical documentation, illustrations, and training content.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (education, engineering, construction management, or related field).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the door industry, with preferred experience at both the manufacturer and dealer level.
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing and instructional content development.
- Illustration and CAD skills preferred; ability to visualize and explain complex systems clearly.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong team leadership experience, with the ability to guide and influence collaborators.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience.
