Residential Installer Certification
Homeowners deserve knowledgeable, efficient and honest service when purchasing a new garage door or needing service on an existing door. IDEA Residential Installer Certification enables these consumers to identify professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to these standards reliably and consistently.
Commercial Sectional Door Systems Technician Certification
This designation is earned by demonstrating a high level of expertise regarding commercial sectional door systems, accessories, and regulatory standards. This program places a heavy emphasis on personal safety and the UL 325 Standard.
Rolling Steel Fire Door Technical Certification
Few commercial customers are aware that there are no restrictions on who may install or service a fire door. However, these products represent an essential role in property protection and life safety. Installation and service of rolling steel fire doors is a job for professionals with special expertise in this discipline. IDEA established this program to assist commercial property consumers in identifying qualified technicians for the installation, service and drop testing of rolling steel fire doors. This course emphasizes personal safety and the NFPA-80 Standard.
Automated Gate Operator Installer Certification
Automated vehicular gates provide convenience and security, but should only be installed or repaired by professionals. This IDEA program was created in partnership with four major trade associations: International Door Association (IDA), Door and Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA), American Fence Association (AFA) and the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA) through the Automated Vehicular Gate Systems Coalition. The program includes extensive information regarding the two main safety standards applicable to automated vehicular gates – UL 325 and ASTM F 2200. This course is an intense examination of all aspects of gate automation and is demanding in its coverage of critical public safety requirements.
Commercial Rolling Door Systems Technician Certification
Commercial property customers demand high standards when it comes to installation and maintenance of commercial door systems. Professionals are in demand at every level. The door and access systems industry has responded to these needs by creating a series of professional certification programs for technicians. This program provides an essential certification for technicians to differentiate themselves as meeting these demanding criteria.
Train-the-Trainer
Knowing the technical aspects of installing doors is only half the job of a trainer in our industry. This full-day course delivers professional training skills and expertise to dramatically enhance dealer level training. The Program is designed for experienced installers who have training responsibilities for new-hires. With on-the-job training being the most common method for developing new talent, the IDEA train-the-trainer course was created to provide experienced technicians with training techniques, evaluation methods and interpersonal skills that are essential in delivering technical capabilities to new employees. Attendees earn the designation IDEA Sanctioned Trainer which authorizes them to sign the necessary Training Statement required on some IDEA applications as a prerequisite to eligibility for certification. This program enables dealers to effectively and efficiently become their own training centers.
Certified Door Dealer Consultant
The Certified Door Dealer Consultant program is the industry’s first independent, comprehensive training and certification program for manufacturer sales representatives. The course provides new-hires with an in-depth examination of door and access systems dealers and an overview of the industry and its many components.
Automated Gate Systems Designer Certification
The Automated Gate Systems Designer Certification program has been developed to enable professional, highly qualified dealers to identify themselves to their customers and business prospects. The demand for credentialed contractors throughout the construction industry has emerged as one of the most effective means of documenting high standards and having been validated by an independent third-party organization, recognized throughout the gate systems industry.
Gate Systems Technician Level 1
The purpose of the first of three gate service technician programs is to help gate systems diagnose and repair gate systems by understanding licensing requirements, troubleshooting electrical circuits, system troubleshooting, along with vehicle detection systems. The gate systems technician’s knowledge is an essential element of a safe and properly maintained automated gate system.
Gate Systems Technician Level 2
The purpose of the second of three gate service technician programs is to help diagnose and repair gate systems by understanding licensing requirements, troubleshooting electrical circuits, system troubleshooting, along with vehicle detection systems.
Save Money with Bundled Certifications
In order to encourage installers with multiple installation and service responsibilities to earn applicable certifications, IDEA has created bundled options that reduce the cost of their credentialing.
